Blue Peter Badge after putting pen to paper

Carter Community School’s Faye Graham has been awarded a prestigious Blue Peter Badge after putting pen to paper to write a poem.

Faye, a Year 7 student from Poole, was watching the popular BBC children’s programme when they ran a piece about a viewer who had received the coveted badge for a poem they had written.

Inspired by the programme, Faye then composed her own verse, choosing the topic of what it would be like to have twin brothers, along with an accompanying letter explaining her love of writing. A few weeks later, the 11 year-old received a letter back, congratulating her on her poem and awarding her with a Blue Peter badge, as well as a special card allowing free access to certain attractions.

Said Faye: “It was fantastic to receive the letter and badge and I’m really proud of myself as I do really enjoy writing, particularly poems.”

Congratulating Faye on her achievement, Carter Community School Principal Sam Davidson said:

“We are so proud of Faye, who is a credit to herself, her family and the whole school. She’s also a wonderful example to the other students, showing just what you can do if you really put your mind to it.”
