Maths

Students will

 

Cover all areas of the National Curriculum.

  • Number and Algebra.
  • Shape, Space and Measure.
  • Handling Data
  • Using and applying mathematics.
  • They will be expected to work at an appropriate level to their ability in the subject.
  • They will be expected to talk about their work and explain what they are doing using relevant mathematical language.
  • They will do aural, mental and investigative work as well as writing in their class books.

 

How you can help

  • Make sure that all homework is attempted.
  • You can buy a Mathematics Co-ordination Group revision book at the appropriate level from the school for £2 to £3.
  • Encourage your child to practice their mental arithmetic.
  • Look at the mathematical diagrams used in the newspapers and on television.
  • Make sure that your child has a scientific calculator.

 

Coursework

At least one piece of work on Number & Algebra

At least one piece of work on Handling Data

 

The work is carried out mostly in school during lesson times.

 

Assessment

 

80% from 2 Final Examination Papers

20% from2 Pieces of Coursework
