At Carter Community School, we offer BTEC in Information and Creative Technology. BTECs come in a variety of different shapes and sizes and here at Carter Community School we offer the following levels:
Entry Level 1 Foundation
Learning, as a basis for progression to further learning or employment. Once learners have achieved this qualification, they may wish to progress towards a Level 2 BTEC First.
Level 2 BTEC Firsts, which is an equivalent to a GCSE
For this level, learners have the opportunity to complete a variety of tasks which will lead towards three different grades:
Pass equivalent to a GSCE grade C
Merit equivalent to a GSCE grade B
Distinction equivalent to a GSCE grade A
Any learners who achieve distinction marks for all of their tasks will achieve a Distinction *
The BTEC in ICT has three units, and is split up as follows:
- Unit 1 (exam); 25%
- Unit 3 (Digital Portfolio) 25%
- Unit 13 (Website Development) 50%
Unit 1 - The Online World (exam)
This unit will help students understand the main technologies and processes behind the internet and investigate how they come together to let people view websites and send information across the world.
Unit 3 – Digital Portfolio
This unit is a chance for students to show off! A digital portfolio is an exciting onscreen way to showcase achievements to potential employers or when applying for a course.
Unit 13 - Website Development
In this unit, students will investigate the features and uses of websites by exploring what they are and how their integrated components and applications interact with each other. Students will also learn how to design, develop and test a website for a brief.
