Carter Community School is a small secondary school for students aged 11-16 with approx. 400 students on roll. We are particularly proud of the individual care and support we can offer our students. However, being small does not prevent us from offering a wide range of GCSE courses alongside a diverse vocational programme.

Following changes to the age of transfer in Poole schools from Sept  2013 we welcome Year 7 students (aged 11)

Admissions Information

There are two types of admission to a school:

In year admissions

In-year admissions can be either when a child starts in a school part way through the school year, or in September but not in the normal year of entry for that school.

Normal year of entry

Admissions in September to the normal year of entry at a school. The 'normal year of entry' is the year group when children start at that type of school.

The normal year of entry in Poole’s maintained schools are:

  • Infant, First and Primary schools – the Reception year
  • Junior schools - Year 3
  • Middle schools - Year 5 (Broadstone Middle only)
  • Secondary schools – Year 7 (but Corfe Hills is Year 9)
