Carter Community School governors have a wholehearted commitment to the education of young people, to the values and ethos of United Learning, and to the school. The most important focus for a 'Carter Governor' is the needs of young people and their education.

Characteristics of the Carter Community School Local Governing Body (LGB)

So if you….  

  • care about improving young people’s educational attainment
  • want to contribute to the local community
  • want to work as part of a team and can value the contribution made by different people
  • are able to give time to prepare for and attend meetings
  • accept you might need training
  • are willing to ask questions
  • are open to ideas and willing to learn
  • are able to contribute to the life of the school   

....and would be interested in becoming a governor on our Local Governing Body, then complete the document below “Expression of Interest in Becoming a Governor” and return it to the Chair of Governors or the Clerk to the Governing Body, via the school office.  There are certain conditions you will need to meet but these are quite simple.

‘Who's Who’ on the Carter Community School’s LGB 2017/18

The Local Governing Body (LGB) oversees the running of Carter Community School, which includes appointing senior staff, setting academic targets, ratifying school policies and reviewing the overall performance of the school. The usual term of office for a governor is three years. If you would like to join our team, contact the Chair of Governors or Clerk to the Governors via the school office. 

Ms Sam Davidson, Principal, is not a governor of the LGB but attends all LGB meetings
