Putting the "Fun" into Fundraising!

On 7 March KS3 students participated in a fundraising event to raise money for Sports Relief and the United Learning Ride ABC in aid of SITUPS.

Students gave an enthusiastic welcome to cyclists Shaun Dowling (UL Head of Sport), Bruce Wilson (UL Educational Technologist) who were undertaking a gruelling 600 mile bike ride from Ashford to Bournemouth to Carlisle over 8 days visiting 25 United Learning schools en route.  They were joined for the day by Carter’s Greg Etheridge (KS4 Learning Director) and Rob Acaster (Assistant Learning Director) during their journey from Bournemouth to Swindon.

Our students attempted to combine cycling, walking, running, scooting, skipping and dribbling a ball to match the 600 miles Shaun and Bruce were cycling.  Following a busy and exciting morning the students managed to reach the target and hit a massive 611 miles across all of the events. With the miles that Greg and Rob clocked on their bikes this gave Carter a whopping total of 795 miles covered across one day. It was a fantastic morning for a great cause and a lot of fun was had by all.
